Trying my hand:

Reading Poetry, plants a seed that grows into a desire to write Poetry. So I picked up a simple kids book on the process to begin with. Having something explained so simply a kid could understand it helps to understand, but hurts the ego.

Here are a few of my first attempts:

An Acrostic Poem is where each letter of the Title is the first letter of each line in the Poem. So, my first poem is Entitled:

Daniel
Dice dueling
Always learning
Never Dull
Interested in beauty
Eternally seeking Eternity
Loving God and Family

Another simple form of poetry is the Haiku, 3 non rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. Though the rules are indeed simple writing a meaningful Haiku is a true art, I think I'm in kindergarten.

Ninja:
Sharp steel gleaming bright,
Wet under the moons light glow.
Fresh kill lying still.

Abstract:
Ink strokes on paper,
Thin lines, thick lines, circles, dots:
All combined share thought.

Smoking:
Novocaine for life,

Relaxation with a drag.

Rushing deaths arrival.

Windows:
Eye's brightly gleaming;
Show the soul is living well.
Jesus showed the way.

My first few attempts, I like them, and that's all that matters.
